    Tips for moving day

When the day for the moving to be realised comes- what you did up to that moment, you did, and this text is not about the preparation for the moving- it is about the moving day itself and what you should take care of during that day. Because, although it is exciting to move to a new place, and you are thrilled to be finally moving, there is great chance that you might make some oversight and forget to do something important, and by that make yourself nervous on what should be such a beautiful day. Before we start taking suggestions what to pay attention to on the very day of relocating, you should read our previous articles about common moving problems and how to pick a good and reliable moving company so you would be sure that the preparation for the moving day has gone in the right manner. After you read that, prepared the things you should have, and also found a moving company to help you make the moving process go easy, you should pay attention to the top tips for the moving day:

Mini check-list for the moving day(before the very beginning of the relocation)
Make your relocation day a piece of cake:

    • Get up early in the morning
Start the moving before the moving itself starts

Get up, get dressed, get prepared for what is coming. In that manner, you will be sure that you are ready for the moving day to begin and to welcome the moving company, be completely focused on what they are doing, and how are they doing it.

    • Wear comfortable clothes
If you want to feel comfortable during the relocation, then really feel comfortable

Wear clothes that are not tight, inflexible, or uncomfortable for movement in any other way. You also do not want to wear clothes or shoes with ties on your moving day- there is the possibility that they untie in the crucial moment and get you injured, or break something you are carrying. So, you really want to be comfortable for all sorts of movements, wear something that allows you that.

    • Have your cell phone charged
You do not want to be left without a phone on a moving day

You never know how long the whole relocating day would last, therefore, have your phone fully charged, because it is something that you will use for probably every step you take, in order to keep things smooth.

    • Make a checklist for every step to come, and for everything that should be packed
When the moving day comes- be in full control of the situation, in every way
    don't forget

The moving day is probably the worst day to forget something

The recommendation is to make this kind of check-list before the moving day. But, in case you didn’t manage because everything happened too fast, then this is the last moment to do that. And you do not want to start the moving day without the moving list. It helps you in so many ways, and also it helps to the moving company, so they wouldn’t make a mistake and forget to put something on the track. In case something is forgotten, you would have a proof that you let the personnel know what should be taken, and by that make them deal with the expenses of redoing the moving of the rest of things.

    • Get additional help
Invite your friends, family or neighbours to help you on a moving day

If you decide to listen to us and invite people to help you, it will make the relocating process a lot easier. But only if you assign the roles for everyone that comes. In that case, everyone will be well informed of what his/her task is, and you could be in control of every detail of the process, being able to fix every problem that might arise, because you would know exactly what the problem is, and where it is. That is how you want your relocation to be conducted.

    • Cleaning after the movers
When the moving is over, you have to clean the place you left

After the moving company has left, the place you moved from will be a total mess. And you have to leave the place what it was like when you moved in. That is what the contract says, in case you want your deposit back. If you are financially able to- hire a professional cleaner, it will be the best for everybody. If you are not that wealthy, get prepared for what’s to come- purchase the cleaning items(bags, detergents, mops etc.) so, when everybody leaves, you may start cleaning and finish it as fast as possible, so you could be able to go and enjoy in unpacking at your new home at the end of the moving day. In case you are not sure how to clean home to get your security deposit back, you may find this video helpful:

    • Payment
Be prepared to pay the moving company promptly, so the moving day could be finished in the right manner

Have with yourself the exact amount of money to pay the moving company, because it is the custom that they do not unload your stuff until they are fully paid(i say fully because most of them take a deposit, and you only pay the rest on a moving day). You do not want to find yourself in that awkward situation of not having enough money at the end of the moving day (have at least your credit cards in your pocket) and by that be forced to stay in a hotel until you have it prepared.

    • Have another look at your checklist
-Check if there is everything there at the end of the moving day when the unpacking is finished-

Make sure that everything you packed is in front of your eyes when the last box is taken out of the track. Checking of the unpacking is as important as checking the packing. You want your stuff with you, at your new home, so you could finally unpack the boxes. And you want your moving day finally to end because it will be a long, long day.
