    Moving out after a brake up – simple guide

    By Maria S. | Common moving problems | 0 comment | 25 January, 2019 | 0

    A break up is already a difficult process. And seems twice as hard when you are actually living together. Tension is on the rise. The first place you want to go to get away from it all is your home. But it is no longer a place of comfort and peace. Instead, you may find yourself fighting, worrying, and feeling depressed around a person you used to care about quite a bit. Moving out after a break up is probably the first step toward healing your heart.

    Here are some simple guidelines to help you move on after a break-up.

    Acknowledge that breakups are awful

    Breakups are bad. Really bad no matter how long you have been together and what story is behind you. Unfortunately, there is no switch on and off button for emotions, especially when you live together. So wishing to not be around your ex-significant other is quite normal. And having to maybe even share the bed at that moment is ridiculous but this usually happens. So the one thing to keep in mind is that life will go on. It is hard to understand it at this point, but this moment shall pass. Remember that moving as a thing is never fun. And remember to trust life that it will bring you something completely new.

    Brake up

    The best way for a couple after a break up is moving out.

    Decide who stays

    If you’re the one who’s been living in his apartment, then there’s no question about who’s moving out after a break-up. It’s a good idea to hire the professionals when you need some help with your relocation. However, if you co-signed a contract on a new place, then it becomes more complicated.

    The last thing you want is financial troubles. So whoever leaves should be legally obliged to either give a notice period to the other party. Or if they’re not doing so, then pay rent for that time period. It’s wisest that you be the one moving out after a break-up. Because that apartment would anyway be too expensive for you to manage on your own. And of course, you’d be constantly reminded of your ex in the same surrounding if you decided to stay on.

    Don’t get emotional

    It’s always easier said than done. But being emotional when you’re moving out after a break up doesn’t help you. You’ll only end up making irrational decisions. And also say stuff that you will regret saying when you’ve cooled down. This is even truer if your partner is the more emotional one. Because now you will have to be strong-willed for the both of you. If you feel you or your partner is becoming too emotional during a conversation. Simply put a pin on it and discuss it at a later time. Because now you have to worry about how to find a decent residential moving company?

    Deal with common properties

    Make a list of all the things that you have brought together. You can be mature about the situation. Decide who will keep what. If that is not the case then:

    • You can randomly share the objects among yourselves. Just be sure that they all amount to the same value.
    • Pay for items that you are more interested in keeping
    • Sell items that you cannot decide on how to share them. Split the sales money equally between the two of you.

    Kids and pets

    Break-up is even more complicated when there are living beings involved. When you have kids it’s wise to live somewhere nearby. For that kind of relocation, you can use this short distance moving tips. Once you decide on who has the custody, it is important to keep some kind of routine. Children’s after-school activities and other schedules should be respected. Besides, it would be good for them to feel like both of you are there for them at all times. Also, there should be some set of rules and guides that you both agree on so try to stick to these rules. If the relationship was particularly bad, you can always seek legal help if you are not quite sure what to do.

    Use professional help

    If you hire a moving company, moving out after a break-up can be done in a day. Of course, you need to pick the reliable company, such as AAA Insta-Move Orlando. Movers will pack your things quickly and move everything faster than you think. This way breakup will be done without things getting really weird. Prolonging your move can just lead to creating more bad energy. After all, this is now just business and has nothing to do with your relationship. Keep things professional and even set out a schedule for moving out. This can be when your ex-partner is not home so it wouldn’t be awkward.

    Embrace the new

    When you choose a place, find the one that will make you happy. Fill your new space with the items you like. And remember that whatever you do, try to turn your new place into a home as soon as possible. Now that you’re single again, it’s time to establish a new lifestyle. And being single is great. That is the time to figure out what you really want. Also, you can do all the great things you always wanted to do.

    Some tips for moving out after a break-up

    There is a number of other things you should keep in mind when you’re moving out after a breakup:

    • Make sure the new town/state where you’re moving is a place where you have a paying job. Or at least a healthy support system;
    • Should you live alone or with a roommate;
    • Location is key. If you already have a job, then it’s ideal you find an apartment near your office;
    • Your apartment needs to be accessible and have good public transportation;
    • If you have a car, then make sure you’re provided with a parking space;
    • If you’re keeping the pet, make sure your apartment building is pet-friendly.
    • Make sure grocery stores, drugstores, gym or other important places are nearby.

    Realize that there will be a lot of emotions in moving out after a breakup. You will miss your partner and that is normal. When you feel bad, allow yourself to cry and feel whatever you may be feeling. But feeling lonely is not a permanent feeling. It’s just a stage in life that can even help you to grow as a person. Just think of it as a new beginning.
