Writing down a list is almost never easy. In this case – it’s a list of the most charming places in Philadelphia. That means it’s going to be double trouble trying to pick out the places that deserve a spot in this one. If you’ve ever visited Philly you know what we’re talking about. Maybe you’ve been planning to move to Philly at some point? In that case, this article will help you come to a decision. One thing’s for sure – you can’t go wrong by picking Philly as your new home. Why? Let’s just say the city’s offer of places to visit is tremendous. Not just that – beautiful family-friendly neighborhoods await you in Philly. So, let’s get down to business. Here’s a list of the most charming places in Philadelphia. Make sure you don’t miss out on it.

    Rittenhouse Square

Rittenhouse Square is also known as the most popular city square. Did you know that it’s also one of the original town squares according to the 17th-century city plan written down by the city’s founder, William Penn? With such a history, this spot is something most tourists don’t wanna miss out on. That by no means should suggest Rittenhouse Square is a place crowded with tourists taking pictures or something. Most Philly residents use it as a place where they chill and relax. That wouldn’t be possible in the previously-mentioned scenario. In the last year and a half – the tourist numbers have decreased thanks to the pandemic. Anyway, although a city with great history, Philly was not plagued by tourists in the days before the virus outbreak. Rittenhouse Square is the second most expensive Philly neighborhood.

    East Norriton

This one is for folks who love family-friendly suburbia. Located just outside of Philly, it’s still close enough for everyone who wants to enjoy the big city life as they enjoy the suburban quietude. If you plan to raise a family there or already have one – East Norriton is the place to be. Ask every Philly resident – they’ll tell you the same thing. Also, the area around East Norriton is well-known throughout the state for its quality moving services. If you’re ever in need of helping hands skilled crews can help you out, have no doubt about it. With that being said – moving to East Norriton should be easy peasy.

    Ben Franklin's grave.

Philly’s rich with historical places. You’re looking at the grave of Benjamin Franklin.

    Manayunk

This one’s kind of special. Why? Well, there’s a legend about its name. In the language of the Leni Lenape tribe that inhabited Philadelphia, Manayunk allegedly means the place where we came to drink. That’s a very interesting fact for history junkies out there. Today Manayunk is a place filled with great restaurants and pubs. It’s pretty safe to say that tradition here, in Manayunk, is something its residents care for. After all, the place is still faithful to the original meaning of its name. If you’re the food & drinks type – you’ll enjoy Manayunk. There’s no doubt about it.

    Main Line

According to some residents – it’s not just a place, it’s a lifestyle. Main Line is Philly’s own historic suburbia. It’s a group of neighborhoods located just outside of the city. It has everything a family would want in their surroundings. Low crime rates, beautiful houses, lots of green areas, and dreamlike suburban landscapes you’ll surely know how to appreciate. Main Line is pretty famous for its quality moving providers. If you ever decide to move there and you need some help moving in, you can seek assistance in the neighborhood. When you have professionals take care of all the work – all you need to do is sit back, relax and watch your suburban fantasy come to life before your eyes.

    Chestnut Hill

Chestnut Hill is the most expensive neighborhood and that’s the only bad thing you can say about it. Of course, if you can afford to live there then, well… You can finish the sentence yourself. Anyway, the neighborhood is well-known for its charming community and residents. Many annual Philly festivities happen in Chestnut Hill, including Petapalooza. If you’re an animal lover, you’ll surely love it there. Local residents call it the most beautiful Philly neighborhood. Of course, they’re being pretty subjective but to be honest they’re not far from the truth.

    Old City

We just couldn’t finish the list without mentioning this gem. It would’ve been a scandal otherwise. Also called the USA’s most historic square mile, Old City is a beauty of its own kind. There’s no need to overemphasize the fact that living in Old City is a dream come true for history lovers. The amazing historical architecture will take you back to the 18th century in a second. It will be just like in that one episode of South Park if you remember. If you don’t – you’ll be reminded.

    A quick resume

We’re nearing the end of the article. We’ve counted down some of the most charming places in Philadelphia. Let’s do a quick walkthrough. If you’re a great fan of history you can enjoy Old City or Rittenhouse Square. Visit places where once a nation was being born. If you have kids or plan on having them in the future you could be their informal history teacher. Learning is sometimes better outside of the classroom. If you’re a suburbanite looking for a new home – choose East Norriton or Main Line. Great moving providers in both areas will surely give you a helping hand. In need of a cool place to take your friends or family out to dinner? Start your search in Manayunk, the place where we came to drink.
