How to speed up your moving in process?

    By Maria S. | Packing and unpacking hacks | 0 comment | 22 April, 2020 | 0

Moving into a new home is both very exciting and stressful. The relocation process is not easy to handle and it can bring a lot of stress your way especially if you are moving long distances. A lot of people find moving into a new home process to be very slow as they run out of energy during moving out and the relocation. If you don’t want this to happen to you, you can do certain things to speed up your moving in process. But you must know that in order to achieve that, you will have to organize your whole move a lot better. We gathered some very useful tips and using them will help you achieve your goal of speeding up your moving in process, so keep reading if you want to find out more.

    Pack correctly

To make unpacking easier and faster, you need to pack up your belongings correctly. If your unpacking doesn’t last a long time, your moving in process will automatically last much shorter. But what is the correct way to pack? Well, the first thing you are going to need is professional packing supplies. You are going to need:

    • cardboard or plastic boxes
    • bubble pack
    • bio-degradable packing peanuts – Read some eco-friendly packing tips.
    • tape and a tape dispenser
    • plastic foil for wrapping
    • vacuum bags for packing clothing.
Items packed in a cardboard box.

Having the right supplies is important.

Once you have all your supplies ready, it is time for you to pack. But we want to tell you a bit more about these professional packing supplies in case you haven’t moved before. When getting boxes, you can choose from regular cardboard boxes and plastic ones. There are pros and cons to using both of these so we suggest getting a little bit of both. Use plastic boxes for packing breakable and fragile items as they are sturdier than cardboard boxes. They are also water-resistant and they can carry more things than cardboard boxes so they are great for packing books for example. Use the bubble pack and packing peanuts to secure fragile items. The plastic foil is a great way to protect your furniture. You simply have to wrap it and it will be protected from scratches and rips.

    Packing tips

Once you have your supplies ready, it is time for you to start packing and we have some useful tips for you. You need to organize your packing process well as unpacking is going to be one of the things to handle first after moving. This means deciding the order of rooms you are going to pack. We suggest packing the rooms that you don’t use or need too much such as a basement, attic, dining room, living room, hallways. These are the rooms where you don’t need all your belongings unpacked all the time. You can live a day or two without your living room decorations. If you have children, remember to pack their rooms lastly.

Use these tips in order to pack efficiently.

While packing, it is very important that you are packing efficiently. And how can you do that? Well, you should only pack one room at a time. This is going to prevent your current home from getting messy. This also means you’ll be more focused and you’ll know exactly where and how you packed all your things. But it is also very important that you have a packing list and that you are labeling all your boxes. This makes unpacking much easier and faster. If you need to pack up in a hurry, have someone helping you pack. You should still stick to just packing one room at a time even when you have a helping hand. Remember to take short but constant breaks. This way you won’t get as tired but you will still pack efficiently.

    Hire movers

If you want to speed up your moving in process, you are definitely going to need to hire movers. Hiring a reliable moving company such as Zippy Shell of Greater Philadelphia makes moving less stressful and much easier to handle. This leaves you with plenty of energy and excitement for moving into a new home. Having a DIY move means doing a lot of physical activity which can also result in injuries. This can only make your moving in process last a long time which is not something you want to go through. Read how you can protect your moving crew from injuries too. If you have children, moving with movers is a must. Your children are going to need time to adapt and to settle into a new home and having movers do everything for you allows you to spend the time with your children during relocation. This is extremely important and it is going to be very helpful.

    Unpacking

After your movers drop off your belongings to your new home, give yourself the rest of the day off. You don’t have to start unpacking immediately in order to speed up your moving in process. Leave it, go to bed, get some rest, and start unpacking early in the morning. There are only 5 tasks you need to do on move-in day. The first thing you need to do if your movers haven’t done it for you is to put each box in the room where it belongs. This is why labeling boxes is very important. After you do that, start unpacking the other way around from the order you packed. Unpack your children’s room first, then yours and then your bathroom, kitchen, and the rest of your home. Unpack one room at a time just like you packed.
