Moving expenses can be quite high. You must consider hiring a moving company, pay extra for insurance, and other moving services. Don’t waste money

Packing for a move can be both tiring and time-consuming. The reason for that is that we tend to accumulate a lot of stuff that we do not always need. These things become a burden when we decide to move. They also cause us additional expense. Let’s consider certain things we can do to cut down our moving costs.

    • Declutter
    • Find cheap or free packing supplies
    • Rent or borrow
    • Pay packing services

    Declutter

All of the stuff we do not need or use is a burden during a move. First, you have to pack it all, which means increasing the need for packing materials. Then they require more work to load, unload, and transport. So, try to declutter by getting rid of all of the stuff you do not use or need. These will cut down your moving and packing expenses considerably.

    Cheap and free

Packing supplies can be quite expensive. Buying boxes, bubble and plastic wrap, box filling, and protection can be quite costly. So try to get and get these supplies for free. Get the free empty cardboard boxes from the local stores that are preparing to throw them away. Also replace the bubble pack and box filling with old newspapers, soft clothes, towels, and other soft stuff. Replace the boxes all together by packing hanging wardrobe in the garbage bags for protection. Also, transport clothes in the drawers of cabinets without using other packing supplies at all.

    Rent, borrow

You can also rent packaging. Many companies will rent you eco-friendly packaging that you can return after the move. This means that you don’t have to buy but rent at the fraction of the cost. You can also borrow supplies from someone that you know moved recently.

    Pay for packing services

Some companies also offer a packing service that you can use. At the fraction of the price, they will come and both pack and unpack your belongings using their packing supplies. That way you are free from doing tedious packing, you don’t have to worry about packaging or disposing of it after the move. This option may be considerably cheaper than the alternative so make sure you find what is right for you
