How to clean your home after the move?

    By Ivan | Moving | 0 comment | 9 November, 2017 | 0

Moving home is always a stressful experience. It takes a lot of time, effort and money, so nothing weird about it. However, people tend to relax too soon when it comes to stressful situations. So, right after the movers leave, the most of the people just jump into the bad. What they forget is that there is some cleaning to do, if you want to weak up in the morning with no obligations. And, trust us, it’s much easier to clean your home after the move than to wait for the next morning. Having all the time in the world to be lazy is something you’d be so excited about the next day. Help yourself and do the cleaning the same day, immediately after the movers leave. We’re here to help you with a few tips.

Of course, this stands for all of you moving locally. If you’re able to get back to your previous home right after the move or to stay there and clean-up after the movers leave. For all of you who move long-distance, or internationally, this is something you must do prior to your movers come, or right after they load your belongings into the moving truck. However, these tips will be helpful for all of you. They’ll help you clean your home after the move easily.

Step-by-step to a clean home after you move

Clean home - step by step guide

Step by step guide for a clean home

Just like with all the moving process, when it comes to cleaning, you can do everything by yourself, or you can hire professionals to do the cleaning instead of you. It depends on how much money and time you have. If you don’t have enough time, you should get help to assist you with the cleaning. Also, if you have enough time, and don’t want to bother too much, hiring help is a preferred option. Given that NYC is one of the most desired moving location for many people in the USA, we’ll discuss the cleaning process on an example of the NYC move.

Just like we said, you can hire New York City cleaning help and let them do everything. Or you can decide to do the cleaning yourself. Anyway, these tips should help you shorten the cleaning time and effort, regardless of who’s doing the cleaning:

    • Remove the trash from your home- You should do this no matter if you’re doing the cleaning or you’re hiring help
    • Do the vacuuming- This will make your home a lot cleaner and require much less effort while you clean your home after the move.
    • Clean the kitchen appliances right after you empty them. This will save a lot of time.
    • Sweep the floor of your garage, and get rid of all the hazardous materials. You should do this also after you decide that you’ll use your garage no more.

Trash removal- saves your time if done while packing your stuff

Removing the trash probably takes the most time. Once you start gathering everything you don’t need, there will be plenty of things that need to be thrown out, you’ll see what I am talking about. Therefore, we have a suggestion. Don’t leave removing the trash to be done while you clean your home after the move. It’s preferable to do that while you’re preparing the items you’re moving. During the packing process, little by little, you will remove 90% of all the trash. And you’re not even gonna notice that. Because it will be a normal part of your packing process. If you don’t do that, not only that you’re leaving all the job for later, but you risk gathering, even more, trash along the process. If you’re hiring professional cleaners, and they need to throw away the garbage, you’ll pay them more. The reason is that they are charging you per hour, and removing the trash takes time.

Get rid of the trash, clean your home after the move!

If you decide to clean your home after the move yourself, get rid of all the trash

Vacuuming and rolling the carpets while packing leaves you fewer things to do when you come to clean your home after the move

This is another thing you can do while packing for your move. And if you do, you’ll see how much cleaner your home will look. If you’re moving your office, for example, vacuuming the floors and carpets will be half the cleaning job done. Yes, vacuuming the floors and carpets in the offices takes a lot of time and effort, so, if making an office move in New York, you can always hire New York office cleaning services. Not only that you’ll save your time and effort, but the job will be done perfectly.

Clean the fridge and the freezer right after emptying them

Do that right after you empty all the food from them. By doing that, you’re cleaning your kitchen appliances while you’re packing. So the less work will stay when looking to clean your home after the move. Be smart and use your time cleverly. If you do two things at the same time you’ll waste less time and energy than if you did those processes separately. This is why we insist that you don’t let everything to stay for cleaning after the move. Clean everything during the process and you’ll have way less job to do after you move!

    Cleaning your garage

If you have the garage, you won’t be using it at least a couple days before your moving day. So, right after you finish using it, clean it immediately. Remove all the hazardous materials and sweep the floor. If where you’re moving you won’t have a garage, you might even consider having a garage sale. Get rid of everything you don’t need anymore. When making an NY move it’s quite a useful thing. First, you’re getting rid of the things you’re not going to use, and second, you’ll earn some money and increase your NYC moving budget!
