It is time for you to retire, and you are thinking about Maryland. You will find that Maryland has many places suitable for a senior’s lifestyle. But you are looking at Montgomery Country. We at Top Ten Movers In USA are here to help you decide. We have for you a list of charming places in Montgomery County. Let’s begin!

    Why retire in Maryland?

Let’s first talk about why Maryland is a convenient state to retire and then move on to the specific places in Montgomery County.

    The reasons

    • The first thing that makes Maryland attractive is the location. Maryland is close to the state capitol, Washington DC. Washington is only 30-miles away, which is a short 40-minute ride on US-50 W. You can get all the benefits of Washington DC without the enormous cost of living of the American capital. So get movers and relocate here but make sure to get moving insurance.
    • The second reason is to come to Maryland is the delicious food. We have to single out the crab cakes. Maryland’s crab cakes are so popular that they can not produce enough for everyone. When you get to one of the charming places in Montgomery County, ask one of the locals to teach you how to make authentic Maryland crab cakes.
    • The third reason to come to Maryland is the boundless possibilities of outdoor activities. Maryland is unique as you can spend your day at the beach or hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains. You will not struggle to work on your cardiovascular heal in Maryland.
    • Finally, you will have access to one of the best hospitals in the world – John Hopkins. As you get older, your health becomes more fragile, so it is convenient to be close to the best doctors in America.

To get enough exercise, you can always go hiking the mountains in Maryland!

So if you like what Maryland has to offer, helixmove.com can help you relocate here fast and stress-free. Their packers will get your home into boxes quickly. And when they arrive in Montgomery County, they will unpack you.

One of the charming places in Montgomery County is Chevy Chase

The first city we will talk about is Chevy Chase. The name probably sounds familiar to you because the town shares the name with the American comedy actor Chevy Chase. But the place and the man have no relation. The town probably got its name Chevy Chase from the French word – chevauchée, a war tactic.

    Why move to Chevy Chase

Since you are thinking of moving to Chevy Chase, you want to know if you will have company there. Well, you are in luck since about 20% of the Chevy Chase population is over 65-years old, and the town has about 10,000 inhabitants. Therefore, you will have plenty of people in the same age group with whom you can talk. In addition, you will be in a highly educated company since 85-percent of adults in Chevy Chase have at least a bachelor’s degree.

One of the charming places in Montgomery County is Chevy Chase, where you will not struggle to find friends.

There are plenty of things to do in Chevy Chase. You can spend your talk in the Chevy Chase Local Park. If you want to go on a shopping spree, visit the shops at Wisconsin Place. If you are looking to eat out, there are plenty of restaurants with indoor and outdoor areas. You can get delicious Maryland seafood. And if you are for something more exotic, some restaurants make Asian cuisine, Ethiopian, French, and many more. Therefore, if you want to experience the city to the fullest, turn to experts nearby local Chevy Chase movers who can help you get there. They know the area well and will move you in anywhere in Chevy Chase problem-free.

The one downside of living in Chevy Chase is the high cost of living. The high cost of living is generally due to the high real estate prices in the area.

Charming places in Montgomery County – South Kensington

The second place we will talk about in Montgomery County is South Kensington. Another small town with only 8,000 citizens. You can be sure that you will get your piece and enjoy your golden years in South Kensington. Since Montgomery County is adjacent to Washington DC, South Kensington is also close to the capital. It is so close that you can call it a suburb of Washington DC.

When it comes to the cost of living, it is not as high as in the town of Chevy Chase. While Chevy Chase was almost 100 percent more expensive, South Kensington is 68-percent more expensive. Same as in Chevy Chase, the reason is the housing market. Therefore, if you can not afford to buy now, you can always rent.

South Kensington is not as expensive as Chevy Chase, you could maybe buy a home there.

You can do a lot of your transportation in South Kensington with public transport. But it would be more convenient to drive. The commute time is longer than average, but you are in retirement. For that reason, you do not need to get to many places, and you are rarely in a hurry.

And as we have mentioned, South Kensington is close to Washington DC, so you will never be bored. It is only a 25-minute drive to the capital, and there you can eat at the best restaurants, museums, and endless monuments and memorials.

    Conclusion

These two charming places in Montgomery County are a suitable choice for seniors. If you choose the town of Chevy Chase, you get a bit more activity in your area but a more expensive living cost. And with South Kensington, you do not get so much activity near you. But the cost of living is 30-percent cheaper, and you are closer to Washington DC. If you do not like both of these towns, you have many more Maryland places to live in as a senior citizen. But you have to do more research on Montgomery County. Good luck!
